Hotel Nikko Kansai Airport First of its kind in Japan! Hometown Tax Payment Vending Machine" installed in the airport
Everyone can easily pay hometown taxes with a familiar vending machine.
Izumisano City and Hotel Nikko Kansai Airport have installed a "Furusato Tax Payment Vending Machine" in the hotel lobby located in Kansai International Airport to make it easier for people to pay their hometown taxes on the spot. The vending machine will accept donations from December 23, 2022 (Fri.) at 11:00 a.m. The vending machine will return vouchers for accommodation and restaurant use at Hotel Nikko Kansai Airport, which is working to promote regional development and local attractions.
This will be the first time that vending machines have been installed in an airport in Japan, and the first time that vending machines have been installed in Osaka Prefecture.
In the case of ordinary Furusato(hometown) tax payment, it is necessary to complete the procedures and obtain a ticket for lodging or restaurant use prior to visiting the area. However, by using this vending machine, you can pay your hometown tax even after visiting the area, and after receiving the gift (coupon), you can immediately use it for lodging or a restaurant.
A ticket is issued after selecting the returned item on the touch screen, registering the address (which can be automatically read from the driver's license), and selecting the donation method (payment is by credit card only). The receipt can then be redeemed at the front desk for the returned item.
What is Furusato Tax Payment in Japan?
Furusato tax payment is a system that allows you to choose a municipality of your choice, such as your hometown or a municipality you would like to support, and make a donation. You can specify how your donation will be used to support various issues, such as community development and reconstruction assistance.
If you follow the procedures, you can receive local specialties or lodging vouchers for only 2,000 yen out of your own pocket.
Furusato tax payment is a system whereby tax refunds or credits can be received by making a donation to a municipality of your choice instead of the tax originally paid to the municipality where you live.
If you make a donation within the maximum deduction amount, tax will be deducted for the portion exceeding 2,000 yen. The maximum deduction amount depends on the annual income of the taxpayer and the amount of various deductions based on family structure and other factors.
