What is a Shiba Inu?
Shiba Inus have been used as hounds and guard dogs since ancient times, and are smart and brave. While independent and patient, they can also be stubborn and should be trained properly from puppyhood. They may bark at strangers, but they are loyal to their owners. Because of their hound-like nature, they like to move around and play with toys.
Native to Japan, the Shiba Inu is characterized by its erect ears, crisp face, and curled tail. One of the Japanese dog breeds designated as a national natural treasure, the Shiba is popular for being smaller and easier to keep than other Japanese dogs.
Popularly known as "SHIBA" not only in Japan but also overseas, Shibainu cookies can be purchased as souvenirs at Itami Airport.
