Kinsen-yaki is a fresh confectionery made in the image of Kinsen, the hot water of Arima Onsen, one of the three oldest hot springs in Japan.
It is said that Hideyoshi Taikoo, the great emperor of Japan, was a great admirer of the golden hot spring that bubbled up in Arima, and that Hideyoshi was a favorite of the people who visited the hot spring for a cure.
Arima Onsen is the most popular hot spring in Kansai.
It is said that Hideyoshi Toyotomi was so fond of this hot spring that he visited nine times!
There are two types of spring water: gold spring is brownish water with high salt and iron content, and silver spring is a mixture of carbonic acid and radium spring.
"Kinsen-yaki" is an auspicious specialty of Arima, created in honor of Hideyoshi, who brought prosperity to the area.
