Boeing 737 MAX The latest model in the Boeing 737 series.

The new aircraft uses fuel-efficient and low-noise engines, and the cockpit has been redesigned and introduced in the same style as the company's flagship aircraft, the Boeing 787.

While thoroughly pursuing engine and aerodynamic efficiency, which was the main objective of the developmental model, the 737MAX focused on sharing control qualifications with the conventional model.

LEAP-1B Engine

The driving force behind the 737MAX's high economic efficiency is the LEAP-1B engine developed by CFM International.

Approximately 11% improvement in fuel economy achieved through the use of advanced materials.

LEAP is an acronym for "LEAP Edge Aviation Propulsion", which of course also means "leap".

Reduction of aerodynamic drag

The key to the 737MAX's high economic efficiency, along with improved engine fuel economy, is to reduce drag. This is mainly achieved by the Advanced Technology (AT) winglets on the wing tips and the modified shape of the fuselage tail section.

The AT winglets are divided into upper and lower sections, which is said to reduce drag by 1.8% compared to the blended winglets of the 737NG. However, because of the downward projection, the wingtips are approximately 60 cm lower than those of the 737NG.
